Dj Babu
Looks like Babu is doing some press to promote his new mix coming out ‘The Beat Tape Vol.2’
“There was no holding back with this album, I wanted to get the beats out no matter what. I wanted to give my fans a fresh body of music” Explains DJ Babu. “My mission with these instrumentals are to put some doubters to rest.” For having 10+ years of production experience under his belt, most people know Babu as the World Renown / Champion DJ. “I want people to know my sound, all my beats come from a DJ mentality, so The Beat Tape Vol. 2 is a great outlet for me to showcase my production.”
Bonobo – New Album
Bonobo – The Keeper featuring Andreya Triana from Ninja Tune on Vimeo.
Promo for the new Bonobo album ‘Eyes Down’ is stepping into high-gear with a free track download. See above for a vid of the first single, ‘The Keeper’. Most of the album has been recorded with vocals from the sultry Andreya Triana (new album dropping soon as well), who might be best known for her cuts on the knockout anthem, Tea Leaf Dancers, by Flying Lotus. And in case you wondered, yes, Bonobo and Andreya will be touring together.
TEAM CANADA DJS – Winter Olympics 2010
I’ve always loved the Team Canada DJs logo. I love that they finally made a version for the internet that is larger than 16×16 pixels. It’s also great to see that they’re DJing at the Olympics, but, this new logo skin is really just….great. Like, iPad great.
Apple Tablet Leak – Not a Good Look, Mr.Chairman

Mightor!
Contrary to popular belief, She-Ra and Orko had their debuts in Mightor, not He-Man. This hack ‘n slash Hanna Barbera cartoon from 1967-69 seriously pushes the envelope as a one of the villagers steeds is hit by arrows! Until this day, I had never seen anyone, or thing actually get hurt on a Saturday morning cartoons, no matter how many lasers or guns are fired. I guess the 60s were a lot more progressive than I thought, or just far less caring of animal rights.
Coronation of the Virgin, Nicotine Version
Loving this version of ‘The Coronation of the Virgin’, by Wolfgang Sangmeister aka Nicotine, original by Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velazquez, 1645.

Barbara Hulanicki @ IDS 2010
Barbara Hulanicki was a 60s fashion design icon. Known for her ultra-revealing party girl dresses, and unisex rockstar velvet suits which she developed for her deco-themed, Biba line, the monochromatic minx worked with high-end design houses like Cacharel and Fiorucci after the demise of Biba in 1976.
Having given up on design houses in the early 90s, the designer has turned to designing actual houses, clubs, and hotels. And she’s actually quite good at it. Mostly based out of Miami, the best advice she had to offer during her talk at the IDS 2010 was that “when designing beds for hotels in Miami, they have to be able to support at least six people.” Also insightful was her correlation between fashion design and interior design, “well, yes, I think they are very connected, they both have to do with the use of fabric and colour.”
Barbara’s interiors are available to the masses via projects with Habitat, (a bit like Ikea, but mostly in Europe), and Graham & Brown’s almost psychedelic, deco-themed wallpaper series featured a few posts below.
Adidas Augmented Reality Pack
Oh wow, an augmented reality themed sneaker set so I can spend even more time in the webcam (?!) checking myself out.
“Adidas Originals is launching the first Augmented Reality experience in footwear. The adidas Originals AR Game Pack is a set of 5 shoes, each printed with an AR code on the tongue. When you hold the code in front of your webcam, you’ll gain access to a virtual version of the adidas Originals Neighborhood. Each month between February and April, we’ll launch a new interactive game within the Neighborhood and your shoe will be the game controller. The experience launches on February 10th at http://www.adidas.com/originals.”

Altered:Carbon:You:Suck
Not sure who still downloads music from the internets these days but a couple of douchebag producers by the name of Altered: Carbon thought it would be fun to upload their new album to Soulseek and name it after Autechre’s soon to be released Warp Records project, ‘Oversteps‘. They claim that it was an “accident” that the directory was titled so, and by all means had no intentions of stealing hype from Autechre, or attempting to seek attention through these actions. Seems like a bit of a case of half-assed copycatting as experimental artist, Fluorescent Grey, pulled a similar prank, after Autechre’s Confield was released. At least he had the sense to unapologetically mock the group.
Well, it seems like a whole shit load of negative attention is going to be coming the way of the Carbon:Copy crew. I don’t see how anyone would do this by accident, or unintentionally, especially when if you go to Section 27, their label’s Myspace page, you will see that they even compare their sound to Warp Records! COME ONNNN! These guys are so busted.
It’s a shame because I did like some of the tracks on the album, but its really hard to respect these guys as artists after pulling a stunt like this. Posted below is their half-assed explanation/apology off of their Myspace Blog:
