“Gossamer is Evan Reiner—once a hardcore punk kid turned producer, guitarist, synthesizer scientist and urban field recorder. Whilst studying at Berklee School of Music, Reiner began to focus on the potential of electronic music and made his own field recordings, capturing the sounds of Boston at sunrise and stirring them into his beat experiments. ‘Automaton’, due July 10th via Innovative Leisure, dissolves the genre-breaking electronica of Autechre and Boards of Canada into a bottomless sea of found sound and ambient atmosphere. The record has already been lauded by Jon Hopkins, Gilles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs and i-D Magazine who called it “a peaceful journey across the globe that we want to fall asleep to every night”.
