Another one of my ‘classics’ from the American Library series, written when I was 12. The foreshadowing is really kind of ironic. I really had no interest in rock shows or music at the time. Weird Al was one of my only musical heros at the time, but I do remember learning the lyrics to Phil Collins “In The Air Tonight” in English class.
I’m sorry Miss for being late.
My alarm clock was broken,
My mother slept in.
When I fell off my bed
And I hit my head
On the hard wooden floor
I realized it was ten past four.
So I hollered to my mother
But she didn’t care.
She didnt even give me a stare,
She said it’s all yuour fault
You went to that rock concert
Until three in the morning.
So I got dressed
And started to run
To my school
On the other side of town,
But then I saw
An open car door.
So I jumpd in
And pushed on the gas.
And that Miss
Is why
I’m eight hours and ten minutes late.
